A Palau-flagged commercial oil tanker, M/T Settebello, with 24 Indian crew members on board, was struck by a missile off the coast of Oman near Sohar port. The suspected US strike caused a massive fire in the engine room, leaving 3 Indian seafarers missing while 21 others were safely rescued. In response, India's Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) summoned the US Charge d'Affaires Jason Meeks in New Delhi to lodge a strong protest over the safety of Indian nationals and called for immediate de-escalation and ceasefire in the West Asia region.
